Getting started
- Install GMC Sync from the Shopify App Store.
- Connect Google in Settings and choose your Merchant Center account.
- Run Guided setup — GMC Sync reads your Shopify shipping settings and builds your product groups, destinations, and shipping matrix automatically.
- Sync — request a sync or let the daily schedule run it. Watch live progress and review the per-run log.
Do I still need the Google & YouTube channel?
On the Free and Growth-overlay setup, GMC Sync works alongside the channel — it corrects shipping, labels, and availability on top of the channel's product feed. If you enable full product feed management, GMC Sync takes over the product feed itself; you then turn off the channel's product sync (Google & YouTube app → Settings → Product sync → "Manually add your products or sync them using a third-party app").
I still see Merchant Center issues after fixing everything — why?
Two common reasons. First, Google reviews asynchronously: after a fix it can take up to a day for its verdict to update. Second — and most often — the issues sit on offers from another feed, not GMC Sync. The Merchant Center review section in the app tells you: issues marked "none from this app" come from other product sources, typically the Google & YouTube channel's feeds (named "Shopify App API" in Merchant Center). GMC Sync cannot fix those — two feeds publishing the same products in different currencies will conflict permanently.
To resolve it: turn off the channel's product sync (see above), then remove its leftover sources in Merchant Center under Settings → Data sources — delete the "Shopify App API" entries and keep everything named "GMC Sync". Disabling the channel alone is not enough: its offers linger until the sources are removed or expire (about 30 days). The issues clear as Google re-reviews.
Why were my shipping rates wrong before?
Google only imports your General shipping profile, and can't import carrier or third-party rates. GMC Sync reads your real rates — including weight brackets and discounted carrier rates — and publishes them as exact Merchant Center services, audited against your live checkout.
The log says "published a sampled weight curve up to X lb" — what does that mean?
For that product group and country, GMC Sync priced shipping the way Google prefers for weight-based rates: it ran your real checkout at increasing order weights and published the resulting prices as a weight-bracket table — so Google can quote the right shipping for one item or several. The "up to X lb" is the heaviest point sampled; Google applies the top bracket's rate to anything heavier.
Usually that's exactly right and there's nothing to do. If your shipping cost keeps climbing for orders heavier than the sampled range (bulk orders of heavy items), the estimate for those rare orders could run low — in that case add a manual rate for that group and destination in the app to set an exact cap. Every published rate, sampled or manual, is still audited against your live checkout on each sync.
How do I ensure international shipping prices submitted to GMC are accurate?
Ensure the products grouped together by your shipping profile have similar weight and size. GMC Sync prices each group by running your real checkout with a representative item from the group — so the published rates are exact for products that ship like that item, and drift for products that don't. A group mixing a 0.5 lb accessory with a 20 lb unit will misprice one of them; splitting them into separate groups fixes it.
Two more levers: add a rate buffer on a destination if you'd rather slightly overstate than ever understate (understated shipping is a Google policy violation), and check the per-run sync log — every published rate is audited against your live checkout and drift is called out per country and group.
My products show "out of stock" but they're in stock
That's the channel's inventory sync lagging. Enable availability sync (included on every plan) and GMC Sync overlays your live Shopify availability, which takes precedence over the channel's value.
Products aren't showing in some countries
Add the country as a destination in the shipping matrix. With full feed management, GMC Sync creates a feed for each destination country so your products appear in every market you ship to.
How does billing work?
Plans are billed through Shopify and priced on the number of products synced — never on how many countries you sell to. Free covers up to 200 products. Change or cancel your plan anytime from the Subscription page.
What data does GMC Sync access?
Product, pricing, availability, and shipping configuration — to publish accurate data to your Merchant Center. It does not store your customers' personal data. See the Privacy Policy for details.
